Wagens got his name because all he could say in border-speak when he first came to beryl was “wagons” – the thing which transported him. His real name is nakrian but unknown to any but him. He barely speaks enough to get by, refusing to learn any more. He harbors dreams of one day winning his freedom and going back home.
He had heard ahead of time that the monsoon season caused a delay in fights and that the war pit had been flooded! For 2 weeks prior, some fighters were given the chance to learn to swim and he did.
First fight drew a knife as a weapon. Goal is to get to other side – first one there wins. He decides to swim straight and fast, no PER checks checking ahead!
round 1: Eel; 10m deep water – failed swim check and slashed at eel twice killing it
round 2: swim
round 3: Giant Lobster; failed swim, dodges and keeps moving – beats lobster at a MUS check and uses poles to move out of area
round 4: moves into same square as Butterly – who chooses to attack him.
round 5: fight with Butterfly and disembowels him.
round 6: move into 1m water
round 7: Salil ambushes and kills him in a desperate fight where Wagens pulls on his iron will to try and accomplish Salil’s death knowing his own is imminent.
