Beryl Summer Gladiatorial Games

High Seas Hijinks
High Seas Hijinks

The rainy season has ended and all the cisterns are full so there is still plenty of water in the arena for more high seas hijinks.

Ship to Ship

The arena still has water in it due to the previous months flooding. Crews are brought in to configure it into a mock sea battle stage.

Scenario

The objective is for the ‘contestants’ to cross the flooded arena. First by swinging off ropes onto raised floating platforms representing defended ships. they must swing cross 3 water hazards and two defended platforms to reach the other shoreline which is also defended. Contestants draw lots for a random item from the armory before entering the arena. They are then released onto a platform along one side of the arena where there is another random item for their use while they get their bearing. They are then to swing across, land on the ship platform, fight any opposing forces, swing across to the next platform, fight off or defend against them as well, then swing back onto shore on the other side. fighting their way thought the gate.

Beware the Bull [Cuidado el Toro]
Cuidado El Toro

Beware of the Bull! [Ten Cuidado con el Toro!]

Bundy death match

Relatives of Murdered family members hire an Assassin to take convinced serial killer Mr. Bundy very publicly and make a spectacle out of it as a warning to others. “You cannot escape justice by entering the Pits” one family member quoted and “You’ll get yours in the end” said another. [names have been omitted to protect those involved] Game official allowed the last minute addition of a “Mr. Gallows” to extract justice and ‘arbitrate’ for the surviving family members. later it was found that they bribed officials to enter arena with 2 arm bracers of throwing knives.

as they approached each other in the center of the arena Mr Gallows opens up with throwing several knives with lightning speed and deadly accuracy. Making it look like Mr. Gallows is going to made short work of Mr. Bundy before he could get within striking range with his machete. Mr. Bundy rushes Mr. Gallows but the crowd is already less than amiable with the obvious miss match and over use of force. with much booing and hissing coming from the stands they release two of standby participants to liven things up and appease the audience.

[Troy] Takes out Mr. Bundy in a surprise attack, half harah and half boo and hiss. but is hit by Mr. Bundy and his blood spurting knife attack (pulling knife from his own wound). [Kelly R] takes on Mr. Gallows and both end up taking damage. Mr. Gallows and [Kelly R] both bow out as they see [Troy] coming at them with heavy weapons and shield. Mr. Gallows quickly retreats from combat before anything else gets out of hand. there are some boos, but the audience is generally please (or at least appeased) by the outcome.

the medical aid troupe come out to tend to this segments winner that is bleeding out all over the sand []. He seems to be trying to make his way back over to Mr. Bundy, perhaps to check for vitals but is held back by the medical staff attending to his gushing wound. Mr. Bundy is carried from the field on a litter with a linen draped over him. several well known citizens are seen at the staging exit spitting on Mr. Bundy’s remains as he is carried past “deaths door” yelling curses. Later we find out that his bondsman paid a hefty sum to have the medical examiner to take another look at Mr. Bundy’s wounds. Citing to officials “I have a right to protect my investment”. (there are some hushed rumors that he survived, but has not be seen for 6 weeks, there is an unknown prisoner being kept in the lock down area that a private physician checks on daily, he would not comment to us on whom is patient is)

Pre-Game and Opening Day Festivities
Pre-Game

Pre-Game and Opening Day Festivities.

1cp and 1ap per battle Plus 1ap bonus = 2cp and 3ap total for the Pre-Game and Opening Day Session.

The Pre-Game [non-lethal] positioning round the combat is chaotic yet amusing. Yappus is favored by 1 point but is eventually taken out by [troy’s character] in the final strike. [Kelly R] finishes dead last even though the others do not focus on him in particular, not even landing a single blow before being taken out by the other two, hardly worthy of the title ‘pit fighter’ (the pit boss petitions the judges to allow [Kelly R] a protection advantage in the opening games lest their investment goes to waste). the judges decide to throw them all in the pits together against a superior foe to see what becomes of them and their antics.

Opening Day Games. the 3 are pitting against 2 superior foes. as our fighters enter the arena there is some conversation between them and Yappus goes into some sort of fit of rage. He suddenly charges the two, almost surprising them and throwing them off guard. they strike at him as he passes by (deflecting off the little one’s shield). the big guy decides Yappus is a threat and focus his attacks on him trying to take him out early. the rest of the group charges in at the end of the round bumping and battering their two opponents [left wide open by Yappus charge and their counter attacks] around and severely wounding [the little one]. [The big guy] takes a swipe at Yappus trying to finish him off but fails to do so. [the little guy is quicly finished off]. [Kelly R] grabs for the [big one’s] extended sword arm but is met with his shield instead, however tying it up in [Kelly R] grip. [Troy] moves to out flank the big guy and swings his broadsword with deadly accuracy looking likely to take the big guy out in a single blow, but at the last moment the big guy heaves with all his might to pull [Kelly R] and his shield into the path to block the lethal blow. in a split second [Kelly R] life certainly flashed before his eyes he releases the grappled shield. wood splinters, hair, and pieces of cut clothing fly, but no flesh, blood, or bone. [Kelly R] narrowing escapes with life with only shorn hair and a big hole cut out of the back of his shirt to show for it. Yappus seizing upon the situation does a flying double kick straight at the back of the big guy, landing squarely in middle full force the big guy goes flying ass over tea kettle, landing in a large ragdoll heap. the crowd goes Wild.

Welcome to your Adventure Log!
A blog for your campaign

Every campaign gets an Adventure Log, a blog for your adventures!

While the wiki is great for organizing your campaign world, it’s not the best way to chronicle your adventures. For that purpose, you need a blog!

The Adventure Log will allow you to chronologically order the happenings of your campaign. It serves as the record of what has passed. After each gaming session, come to the Adventure Log and write up what happened. In time, it will grow into a great story!

Best of all, each Adventure Log post is also a wiki page! You can link back and forth with your wiki, characters, and so forth as you wish.

One final tip: Before you jump in and try to write up the entire history for your campaign, take a deep breath. Rather than spending days writing and getting exhausted, I would suggest writing a quick “Story So Far” with only a summary. Then, get back to gaming! Grow your Adventure Log over time, rather than all at once.
